DOMAT community & architecture social architect

The foldable bench is a prototype design to generate public awareness on the community facilities, particularly for elderly. The bench is designed with input from the elderly community during a serires of workshops, the idea is then refined and tested. The prototype bench is integrated with existing street railings, and can fold up when not in use. In the Central Western district, there are many hills but few places for the elderly to stop and rest when out walking or returning from the shops. Shopping bags can be hung from the seat, and the size is suitable for one person; it is good for a short break on the journey.
